If we add the human component and our knowledge, we then have the concept of terroir which identifies us and sets us apart.We cultivate 120 acres of our own land, spread across 23 plots in Ba\u00f1os de Ebro, Laguardia, San Vicente and Elciego, with a respectful approach to cultivation based on organic, sustainable concepts.Among these vineyards, special mention should be made of six plots in particular, each with its own identity and an indescribable beauty, from which we make our own wines:<\/p>\t\t\n\t\t\t<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/bodegasaltun.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/02\/vinedos-mapa-bodegas_altun.webp\" alt=\"\"\/>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<a href=\"#blq_villacardiel\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"noopener\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t Villacardiel \n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/a>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<a href=\"#blq_lacicatrera\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"noopener\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t La Cicatrera \n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/a>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<a href=\"#blq_sanquiles\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"noopener\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t San Quil\u00e9s \n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/a>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<a href=\"#blq_lachoza\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"noopener\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t La Choza \n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/a>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<a href=\"#blq_carralaguardia\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"noopener\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t Carralaguardia \n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/a>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<a href=\"#blq_vistalegre\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"noopener\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t Vistalegre \n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/a>\n\t\t\t\t<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/bodegasaltun.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/02\/vinedos-pano-finca-villacardiel-bodegas_altun.webp\" alt=\"Vineyard in the Villacardiel plot\" itemprop=\"image\" height=\"1019\" width=\"2000\" title=\"vinedos-pano-finca-villacardiel-bodegas_altun\" onerror=\"this.style.display='none'\"  \/>\n<h3>\n\t\tVillacardiel\n\t<\/h3>\n\t<p><strong>Area:<\/strong> 19,1 Hectares.<\/p>\n<p>A Tempranillo vineyard in Laguardia at 630 metres above sea level in the foothills of the Sierra de Cantabria mountain range, with the vines rooted in shallow, chalky soil. The wine-growing is sustainable and respectful to the environment in a climate marked by sharp contrasts.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/bodegasaltun.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/02\/vinedos-botella-mini_cardiel-bodegas_altun.webp\" alt=\"vinedos-botella-mini_cardiel-bodegas_altun\" itemprop=\"image\" height=\"310\" width=\"123\" title=\"vinedos-botella-mini_cardiel-bodegas_altun\" onerror=\"this.style.display='none'\"  \/>\n\tWine from this vineyard:<br \/>\n<strong>Alt\u00fan Villacardiel<\/strong>\n\t\t\t\t<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/bodegasaltun.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/02\/vinedos-pano-finca-La-Cicatera-bodegas_altun.webp\" alt=\"Vineyard in the plot of La Cicatrera\" itemprop=\"image\" height=\"917\" width=\"1800\" title=\"vinedos-pano-finca-La Cicatera-bodegas_altun\" onerror=\"this.style.display='none'\"  \/>\n<h3>\n\t\tLa Cicatera\n\t<\/h3>\n\t<p><strong>Area:<\/strong> 1,9 Hectares.<\/p>\n<p>Vineyard planted with Garnacha grapes at 500 metres above sea level in Ba\u00f1os de Ebro, characterised by its poor, chalky soil with a high level of active limestone that regulates the vines&#8217; absorption of nutrients.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/bodegasaltun.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/02\/vinedos-pano-finca-San-Quiles-bodegas_altun.webp\" alt=\"Entrance to the San Quiles plot\" itemprop=\"image\" height=\"917\" width=\"1800\" title=\"vinedos-pano-finca-San Quiles-bodegas_altun\" onerror=\"this.style.display='none'\"  \/>\n<h3>\n\t\tSan Quiles\n\t<\/h3>\n\t<p><strong>Area:<\/strong> 0,78 Hectares.<\/p>\n<p>A Graciano grape vineyard located at 450 metres above sea level in Ba\u00f1os de Ebro, N-SW facing, rooted on the San Quiles hillside. The soil varies between sandy, chalky sandstone and yellow and ochre clays (iron oxides and hydroxides). The soil is medium deep, well-drained and generally poor and low-yield in a Xeric climate. Hillside with a 20% slope, which, together with its orientation, makes it ideal for the cultivation of Graciano grapes.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/bodegasaltun.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/vinos_parcela-botella-sanquiles-bodegas_altun.webp\" alt=\"Alt\u00fan San Quiles, Rioja red wine\" itemprop=\"image\" height=\"310\" width=\"123\" title=\"vinos_parcela-botella-sanquiles-bodegas_altun\" onerror=\"this.style.display='none'\"  \/>\n\tWine from this vineyard:<br \/>\n<strong>Alt\u00fan San Quiles<\/strong>\n\t\t\t\t<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/bodegasaltun.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/02\/vinedos-pano-finca-La-Choza-Everest-bodegas_altun.webp\" alt=\"Vineyard in the plot of La Choza (Everest)\" itemprop=\"image\" height=\"917\" width=\"1800\" title=\"vinedos-pano-finca-La Choza Everest-bodegas_altun\" onerror=\"this.style.display='none'\"  \/>\n<h3>\n\t\tLa Choza (Everest)\n\t<\/h3>\n\t<p><strong>Area:<\/strong> 0,96 Hectares.<\/p>\n<p>Everest was born in the &#8220;La Choza&#8221;, a plot of land planted with Tempranillo grape vines in 1965 on a N-SE facing upper terrace of Ba\u00f1os de Ebro with an 11% slope, featuring shallow chalky-clay soil. This is respectful viticulture, employing growing practices based on ecological, biodynamic concepts.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/bodegasaltun.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/02\/vinedos-pano-finca-Carralaguardia-bodegas_altun.webp\" alt=\"Vineyard in the Carralaguardia plot\" itemprop=\"image\" height=\"917\" width=\"1800\" title=\"vinedos-pano-finca-Carralaguardia-bodegas_altun\" onerror=\"this.style.display='none'\"  \/>\n<h3>\n\t\tCarralaguardia\n\t<\/h3>\n\t<p><strong>Area:<\/strong> 1,74 Hectares.<\/p>\nA Tempranillo vineyard planted in 1951 in Laguardia. Calcareous clay soil on sandstone in the highest, poorest parts, in which the plant roots have to compete with stones for their survival.<br \/>\nWhere the soil is deeper and fresher it lies on silty-clay subsoil.\n\t\t\t\t<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/bodegasaltun.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/vinos_parcela-botella-carralaguardia-bodegas_altun.webp\" alt=\"Alt\u00fan Carralaguardia, Rioja red wine\" itemprop=\"image\" height=\"310\" width=\"123\" title=\"vinos_parcela-botella-carralaguardia-bodegas_altun\" onerror=\"this.style.display='none'\"  \/>\n\tWine from this vineyard:<br \/>\n<strong>Alt\u00fan Carralaguardia<\/strong>\n\t\t\t\t<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/bodegasaltun.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/02\/vinedos-pano-finca-Vistalegre-bodegas_altun.webp\" alt=\"Vineyard in the Vistalegre plot\" itemprop=\"image\" height=\"917\" width=\"1800\" title=\"vinedos-pano-finca-Vistalegre-bodegas_altun\" onerror=\"this.style.display='none'\"  \/>\n<h3>\n\t\tVistalegre\n\t<\/h3>\n\t<p><strong>Area:<\/strong> 1,65 Hectares. | P<strong>lanting year:<\/strong> 1974.<\/p>\n<p>A Tempranillo vineyard planted in 1974 in Ba\u00f1os de Ebro The soil mainly lies on high terraces from the Quaternary period consisting of limestone and quartz boulders in a sandy loam matrix with a reddish hue (iron oxides and hydroxides).
