The soil varies between sandy, chalky sandstone and yellow and ochre clays (iron oxides and hydroxides). The soil is medium deep, well-drained and generally poor and low-yield in a Xeric climate. Limestones, gravels, and clays configure this particular balance of poor soils under a climate of contrasts.
